The Rockhampton Region offers many creative avenues for local, national and international audiences to experience the arts. Through various venues and programs, Rockhampton Regional Council supports the creation and appreciation of Arts. We believe our region inspires talented, informed and innovative art and this is why our community support of the Arts has such a strong foundation.
Each year a busy calendar of exhibitions, lectures, films, music and drama performances is presented at Council's Rockhampton Art Gallery and Walter Reid Cultural Centre. Our other regional communities also offer arts festivals and a range of arts activities at centres such as Yeppoon, Emu Park, Byfield, Gracemere and Mount Morgan.
Across the region there are many opportunities for established and emerging artists of all ages to perform or exhibit their own work and develop skills. Well-established arts groups often provide tuition or workshops for their members and Council's Arts and Cultural Services Unit presents hands-on workshops in everything from writing, acting and filmmaking to making art, craft and music.
